Rachel de Leon is an Emmy-winning video producer and reporter in the San Francisco Bay Area. She currently works as a video producer for Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting.
Rachel has experience working on short- and long-form documentary. She received her Master's degree in documentary filmmaking from UC Berkeley in 2014. Since then, she has worked at Reveal producing investigative videos. In 2017, Rachel won a National Murrow award for her reporting on roster management and Title IX for the radio show, Reveal. That year, she also won an ONA Topical Reporting award for her work on Standing Rock and Beyond, a multiplatform project that a team at Reveal and Inside Energy produced. Throughout 2017, she was a coordinating producer for Glassbreaker Films – an initiative from The Center for Investigative Reporting to support female filmmakers – helping to produce five half-hour documentaries for national and festival distribution, and more than 20 online minidocumentaries. In 2016, she won two National News and Documentary Emmys for her work on a NewsHour investigative video about the deadly oil fields in the Bakken and The Dead Unknown, a three-part series about a silent national crisis in the criminal justice system leaving Jane and John Does unmatched to their families searching for them. In 2014, Rachel completed a short documentary about the fast-rising companies Lyft and Uber which were pushing out the familiar, yet problem-ridden cab industry in San Francisco. Cab City was screened at film festivals across California. |
